Why do we have an introduction… Two main reasons.
First we want to share way the article, report, post, or whatever it is your writing about exists. Secondly we want to share with the reader what they are about to learn.
Now remember this can be as long or as short as you want to make it.
The first part of the introduction… Why you are writing the article or report. Share a story with your reader just let them know. Explain how it all came about, tell them why it is important.
For example look at the introduction to this article. Writing can be simple and many people get stuck writing the introduction.
And yes, it is short but to the point. It doesn’t have to be long and drawn out.
The second part, what the reader will learn. Let’s examine again our introduction. They will learn how to quickly and easily write an article or report introduction.
Now one final suggestion would be to write your introduction after you have written the article or report body.
This allows you to know exactly what your article was about and makes it easier to complete your introduction.
